The Ondo State Government has taken significant steps towards ensuring that healthcare is affordable and accessible to everyone in the state by introducing a state insurance scheme that seeks to address the gaps in the health sector of the Southwestern state. Speaking on the latest development, Dr Banji Ajaka noted that the state insurance scheme is providing qualitative and affordable healthcare for everyone in the state. According to him, the insurance scheme is now in full force, with the goal of ensuring that people have unfettered access to good and qualitative healthcare at affordable costs.

“The State Executive Council approved that the Mother and Child Hospital Akure should expand its range of services and provide quality healthcare for the people. Our state insurance scheme under the Ondo State Contributory Health Commission is another giant stride of this administration. This scheme has commenced in full force and our people have continued to enjoy unfettered access to good and qualitative healthcare at affordable cost,” Dr Banji Ajaka stated.

“To fill this gap, the State Executive Council approved that the Mother and Child Hospital Akure should expand its range of services and provide quality healthcare for the people. I am glad to inform us that this facility has been approved to provide services beyond maternal and child healthcare,” he stated.

Furthermore, the state government has also opened a new administrative block that covers non-infectious diseases at the infectious disease hospital in Akure. This project will enable people in the state to have access to prompt and immediate care, which is in line with Governor Akeredolu’s agenda to provide effective and efficient healthcare for the good people of Ondo State.

Commenting further on the development, Dr Ajaka said, “no fewer than 280 workers had registered to benefit from the insurance scheme. This means that more people will be able to access quality healthcare without worrying about the financial burden that comes with it.” –
